Business Development Manager Global Sales

Our client is a leading global consumer organisation and No. 1 of its market. The company is operating in different retail channels, with a g(l)ocal structure and currently seeking for a new Business Development Manager.

The purpose of this position is to actively identify, drive and implement business development opportunities globally in order to exceed and further develop the market position in the different regions, sales channels and profitability targets.

One key focus will be the responsibility for online direct sales in different areas / regions: This includes identifying, validating, developing, and implementing strategies, plans and actions to ensure strategic growth and profit development according to customer segmentation, brand architecture, sales channels, product segments both for existing as well as new potential revenue streams.

The position is an operational position, working closely together with the Sales functions within the Division but also cross-functionally, specifically with other Group and Division functions in Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Online, etc.

The role is based in Ulm, Germany and reporting to the VP Sales.

§  Translate the global division strategies into operational actions to fulfill global and business unit needs regarding Business development

§  Work with the teams in Sales as well as cross-functional in the Division and within Group to increase sales and profit opportunities and thereby maximize revenue for the organization.

§  Identify and plan new revenue-generating sales and business development opportunities. Define the scope of business relationships, identify profitable deal points and ensure implementation across the regions. The revenue generating sales and business might be direct, online or through external partners

§  Develop a solid concept for online direct sales and take over the operational responsibility for these initiatives.

§  Support the VP Sales with analysis and planning to develop the business strategy to deliver the expected profitable growth for the Division and for the Group.

§  Support business with business development framework, project management skills and ways to move the boundaries of «best practice» forward.

§  Support in the detailed analysis and monitoring by region/competitor and consumer/customer/macro trends

§  Ensure a close relationship to other parts of the business - alignment through-out the value chain and across Division/Group

§  Work closely together with Regional Sales Managers to ensure alignment on business development priorities / crross-channel.

§  Support specific projects, incl. cross-functional improvement initiatives, M&A projects, etc.

Background/Qualification

·        Relevant education or experience (University degree)\;

·        Leadership experience within Business development, ca. 7+ yrs, ideally as mix between consulting and business roles\;

·        Analytical skills & strategic thinking\;

·        Excellent track record of brand-based, consumer and customer focused business development, prilamary B2C and less B2B\;

·        Wide knowledge & proven experience from business development in online sales channels and digital space\;

·        Ideally experience from business development in emerging markets\;

·        Previous experience of process development/continuous improvements and change management\;

·       

Lanuage skills

·        Fluent in English and German (additional languages are a plus)

Skills/Personal profile

·        Good understanding and experience in dealing with the different customers, sales channels, product mix and premium brands\;

·        Understanding of the different routes to market and the value of different sales channels\;

·        Understand the market and plan ahead, whilst understanding wider implications of actions\;

·        High affinity to online & digital space and proven expertise in this area\;

·        Ability to influence & drive people\;

·        Strong analytical skills and target oriented way of working\;

·        Ability and experience to lead and coach a team laterally\;

·        Strong communication & presentation skills\;

·        Intercultural competence\;

·        To construct factual plans and proposals to influence senior directors of the business.
